The PTFA's role is to encourage closer links between home and school through fundraising activities and social events organised for the pupils and families of the school and local Catholic Parish community.
Funds raised are used for providing additional activities and facilities, for the use of the school and it's pupils, not otherwise already provided by the school via its allocated budgets. It is also responsible for the upkeep and repair of items previously supplied by the PTFA.
Past funding has included the provision of the school swimming pool, donations towards the refurbishment and update of the school library, class books, a new stage, outdoor toys and equipment, 30 ipads (enough for a whole class to be ableto have one each for a specific lesson), new climbing frames in both the infant and junior playgrounds and most recently a new sensory garden and school lockers for all the children.
We try to organise several events each term and these include some for the children such as discos, hot dog days, pancake day, and some for the adults such as afternoon tea, golf nights, quiz nights, and also family events such as beach BBQ's, Summer Fetes, bingo nights and our annual Advent Bazaar.
As a parent of a child at SMSM, you will automatically become a member of the PTFA and are invited to attend our meetings which are held every half term in the evenings at school.
We have 2 Facebook Pages:
St Mary & St Michael PTFA which will have all PTFA information and events posted and requests for help; and
St Mary & St Michael School Parents page which will have information regarding events ect in the community that may be of interest to the Parents.
We encourage parents/family to join both groups so you will be informed of all events and requests for help.
