Catholic Life of Our School

Our Religious Education Curriculum

We teach RE through the Diocese of Portsmouth's God Matters Scheme and 10% of our school curriculum teaching time is devoted to this.

The Liturgical Year

As an integral part of our Catholic ethos, all pupils are made aware, throughout the schoolyear, or the changes and celebrations relating to the Church's Liturgical Year.  These events are highlighted in our prayer space in the corridor that links KS1 to KS2 and also in every classroom's personal worship area.  The children are aware of the liturgical changes with the changing colours of our cloths and displays.

Liturgical Prayer

Monday - Whole School Liturgical Prayer led by Headteacher

Tuesday - Class, House, Key Stage or Pupil led prepared Liturgical Prayer

Wednesday - Hymn Praise

Thursday - Class, House, Key Stage or Pupil led prepared Liturgical Prayer

Friday - Whole School Praise Liturgical Prayer led by Deputy Headteacher

As a whole school we celebrate Mass at the beginning and end of every term where children, parents, staff and parishioners come together in Our Lady Star of the Sea to worship together in a pupil-led service.
